Frequently asked questions about .name

What is .name?

+
.name is a domain suffix (TLD) you can use to give your brand a clearer, more relevant online identity. It works with websites, email and redirects like any modern domain.

Who can register a .name domain?

+
In most cases, registration is open to everyone. If the registry sets specific rules, they apply to all registrars and we follow them during the registration process.

How much does registration/renewal/transfer cost?

+
Pricing is listed separately in the table on this page. If the registry classifies a name as a Premium domain, different pricing may apply.

Can I renew after expiry?

+
Yes, there is usually a grace period for renewal. Duration and any restoration fees are set by the registry, so renewing on time is safest.

Can I transfer .name to DomainMarket?

+
Yes. You will usually need the Auth/EPP code from your current registrar. Transfer typically completes within a few days, depending on the registry.

Does it support DNSSEC and WHOIS privacy?

+
DNSSEC (DS records) can be enabled where supported by the TLD/registry. WHOIS privacy depends on the rules and availability of the service.

Can I use it with email and hosting?

+
Yes. We provide free DNS management and you can point it to Email Hosting/Hosting at DomainMarket or any other service via nameservers or DNS records.

How do I register it?

+
Check availability from the page form, choose the term and complete the order. If you need help with DNS or a transfer, our team can help.
